Abstract

This review was written to discuss dunk fever and its relationship with travel health.  Economic empowerment, advanced transportation networks, and diversified travel options have led to increased migration and travel worldwide. However, these travels bring along global threats of infectious diseases. The COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, is a tangible example of this risk. Turkey, in particular, hosts visitors from Russia, Iran, and Ukraine. Factors affecting travel health include an individual's health condition, travel conditions, duration, weather conditions, behaviors, access to medical services, water and foodborne illnesses, environmental factors, animal bites, accidents, and cultural differences. In the past century, due to climate change, environmental factors, and lifestyle changes, infectious diseases have been on the rise. Examples include AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, avian influenza, SARS, MERS, Ebola, Zika, Nipah, Hendra, and COVID-19. Vector-borne diseases also threaten travel health. Dengue fever is a viral disease caused by mosquitoes and is particularly common in Asia, America, and Africa. Dengue fever, one of the vector diseases, is a viral disease and, like Covid-19, is a challenging and very old disease that can spread in all regions. Travelers should take measures such as vector control, protective clothing, hygiene, and counseling. In conclusion, emphasizing travel health is of critical importance in safeguarding the health of travelers and society. Informed travel planning and precautions play a significant role in reducing the risk of infectious disease spread.
